Rylee is a Veterinary Assistant at Heritage Veterinary Care! Before joining the Heritage Veterinary Care team, Rylee grew up working alongside her dad on their family’s farm, the Mercer Farm, which has been the family business since 1915. Agriculture and animal care have always been part of her life, and being able to carry on her family’s legacy while expanding her veterinary skills is something I’m incredibly proud of. Rylee graduated from Carrollton High School, and attended Bethany College, where I began working toward her Associate’s degree in Biology. Between her academic background, livestock care experience, and daily veterinary work, Rylee has built a strong foundation in animal husbandry and animal health that she is happy to use to serve my community.
Rylee has always wanted to work in veterinary medicine for as long as she can remember. Growing up on a century farm meant she was always surrounded by animals, so choosing this field came naturally to her. It blends her upbringing, values, and passion for caring for animals of all kinds. One of Rylee's favorite parts of her job is watching animals grow and thrive, especially puppies as they develop into healthy, well-behaved dogs. I also love being in the operating room with Dr. Clay — there’s always something new to learn, and she enjoys expanding her knowledge of surgical procedures under her guidance. Another special part of Rylee's work is bringing what she learn at the clinic back home to the farm. Applying new skills to their livestock operation strengthens both her work and the family’s business.
When Rylee's not at Heritage Veterinary Care, you can almost always find her at home on the farm. She love's spending time with the calves and helping her dad with whatever needs to be done — working ground, making hay, or caring for our cattle. The Mercer Farm includes a beef, hay, and grain operation, and Rylee has been involved in every part of it since she was little. At home, her family has two Border Collies, BJ and Remmy, who are not only her snuggle buddies but also Rylee's best helpers when it comes to feeding fat steers, goats, and her show calves. Rylee also have a show heifer, Matilda, who she takes to jackpot shows around the state.
